$ELFIE$ by Marikiscrycrycry (aka Malik Nashad Sharpe) is a performance in a series that mobilizes Black and queer aesthetics against the current political climate. Through an expanded choreographic proposition, Sharpe and collaborator Kam Wan traverse an emotional and sensationalised landscape of “allostatic load” (wear and tear on the body due to repeated stress), setting ambivalent responses to political melancholia and violence alongside unapologetic joyousness.

In $ELFIE$, Marikiscrycrycry excavates complex dance systems and experimental movement practices with both the potentials and the limits of the choreographic form and commits to working with emotional and physical material at the unruly juncture of marginalisation and possibility. working at the
